About Me

Big Bend 45

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my blog. Please follow me on Twitter for various musings in 140 characters https://twitter.com/HokieinSA

I am originally from Akron, Ohio and am currently in my 7th year as a high school math teacher. I have worked in both Charter and Public schools, General and Special education and have taught students ranging from 7th grade through 12th grade in subjects ranging from Algebra I through AP Calculus.

I am eternally grateful to all of my students, especially to those who still call on me now and then for help with their college math courses or just to tell me how they are doing. I would also not be the educator I am today without some truly spectacular colleagues. I make no claims to be the best math teacher out there, but I try to get better every day.

When I’m not thinking about education and reforming the system, I enjoy reading, taking hikes (favorite places are Big Bend National Park and Enchanted Rock) watching my Virginia Tech Hokies play football and cycling.
